Bema gets exclusive rights for Survivors
When she saw a recent rise in hate and antisemitism, Zelda asked the Victoria Shoah Project to join her in offering the eye-opening Holocaust Education play, Survivors, by Wendy Kout, to Vancouver Island schools—an initiative that has received widespread support. In 2020, Bema collaborated with the Victoria Shoah Project to raise funds and tour Survivors.
Zelda was thrilled to be given the exclusive license for this play in BC. This powerful educational play fighting racism, hate and antisemitism was commissioned, developed and produced by CenterStage Theatre of the Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester. This project has been endorsed by the Ministry of Education as a vital part of their new curriculum. Although the Pandemic postponed the original tour date, we are hopeful that the tour will begin in late 2021. This very worthy project will include study guides, Holocaust historians, classroom follow-up, professional actors, a technical crew and a professionally filmed version, just in case. Thanks to very generous donors, and a grant from the government, this pilot tour will be offered free of charge to the schools.
